Attendance & Punctuality

Absence

We value your child’s education highly and feel that good attendance at school is vital. Regular attendance enables children get into a routine that gives them the best start to their school life as they are able to access every opportunity to learn. Therefore, we expect all children to attend school regularly and be on time.

If your child is absent from school for any reason please let us know by telephone on the first day of absence followed by a letter on your child’s return giving reasons for the absence. We are required by law to keep accurate records and we will follow up unauthorised absences or persistent lateness. Our attendance target is 95% and if your child attendance falls below 85% then you will be contacted by the school for a discussion.

No holiday will be authorised during term time unless there is exceptional circumstances; all holiday requests have to be made to the school and authorised by the Head Teacher. Parents should however be aware that in taking a child out of school, work is invariably missed and routines are compromised.

Punctuality

It is very important that your child is on time for school. Being late makes your child feel uncomfortable and can disrupt the class. However, we prefer children to come late than not at all. If late, your child must report to the office before going to his/her class.
