Coronavirus Update

Coronavirus Update - Friday 29th May 2020

Dear parents/carers,

A short note to remind you that NHSB reopens on Monday, June 1 to the children of key workers only.

May I remind you that if you do send your child to school on Monday, because you are a key worker, if they have not been with us since the lockdown on March 20 then you will need to offer proof of your occupation.

We all hope that the Prime Minister’s announcement on Sunday, May 24 of an ‘easing’ of lockdown measures can be sustained. You will have heard that this applies to secondary schools with effect from June 15. Currently, we are reviewing the guidance that was issued by the government on May 25 about exactly what that ‘wider reopening’ to students in years 10 and 12 only will look like. Again, we will write out ahead of that time with our considered response.

My sense is that even with a slightly ‘wider reopening’, remote learning will remain the principal method of delivering education to our pupils. At the same time, I know that you will continue to emphasise the importance and significance of our ‘faith inspired, virtues led’ approach to education. Your prayers support both you and others, our virtues help us to find the positives in what are extremely challenging times. We cannot predict the future but children benefit from optimism, love and support and that is something that, as adults, we are all able to offer.

KR,

Mr Kearns

Coronavirus Update: Tuesday 12th May 2020

Dear Parents / Carers,

I am sure you will have heard the Prime Minister’s speech on Sunday May 10, in which it was announced that a phased return to school could begin from as early as 1st June for younger children in Reception classes, Year 1 and Year 6.

He also said, 'Our ambition is that secondary pupils facing exams next year will get at least some time with their teachers before the holidays.'

So, for the time being, nothing has changed.

As further details of these plans are sent to us by the Department for Education, the school’s Senior Leadership Team will be meeting to discuss all aspects of re-opening in consultation with other Nishkam School Trust leaders, local head teachers and national organisations. Please bear with us while we put our plans in place and be assured that we will leave no stone unturned in ensuring a safe re-opening for your children and our staff when the moment comes. As soon as plans are finalised, we will let you know.

Thank you for your on-going support of your child’s education and the school.

Kind Regards,

Mr Kearns

Coronavirus Update: Friday 17th April 2020

Dear Parents / Carers,

We hope you and your families are all safe and well. As we are sure you will have heard based on the announcement from the Foreign Secretary on the 16 April 2020, the country will remain in lockdown for at least a further 3 weeks, so until we communicate otherwise, the school will stay closed for the majority of pupils and remain open for the children of critical workers. Our teachers will continue to set online learning. Thank you for your ongoing support through these difficult times.
