KS5 curriculum

 

There‚Äč ‚Äčare a wide range of courses available in the Sixth Form. All students are expected to study three subjects, with a combination of A level and/or Level 3 Applied Qualifications. 

The curriculum also includes a comprehensive Values, Faith and Personal Development (VFPD) programme to develop and practice faith and virtues, through regular prayer, seva, assemblies, collective worship, and the celebration of religious events, as well as nurturing autonomy and creating citizens of the future. On specific topics within the VFPD programme, external providers are enlisted to support in the delivery and to offer greater expertise and insight to the Sixth Form students.

Aspirations and high expectations are raised through a quality CEIAG provision and a rich enrichment programme. A dedicated double period of enrichment is provided on a Wednesday afternoon to both Years 12 and 13, with students choosing from a range of on and off-site activities, from sporting pursuits to volunteering through to Debate Society. Close ties with Russell Group universities allow for a range of events to take place throughout the year, which expose students to higher education events, placements, and career pathways. Nearly all students leave the Sixth Form having chosen to further their education at university. In some instances, students may opt for an apprenticeship; visits to the Skills Show and WhatCareerLive, amongst other key events, provide the students with the information necessary to make informed decisions on where their journeys, post Nishkam, will lead.
