Welcome

It is our pleasure to extend a very warm welcome to you and we hope that you will find all the necessary information that you require about our school and our unique approach to education. The High School opened in September 2012 and we have now reached the stage in our development where we have 550 pupils in years 7-11. Our sixth form largely comprises our own students, though we do also benefit from students joining our sixth form from other schools. In total, therefore, we have approximately 660 pupils that benefit from our virtues-led approach to education that nurtures both the minds and hearts of our pupils.

Nishkam High School has a unique multi-faith ethos and demonstrates this by positively nurturing children of all faiths and those of no particular belief. The Sikh dharam (faith or religious responsibility) is emphatic in respecting all faiths and not seeking converts, instead focussing on maximising our contribution towards a cohesive society. Nishkam High School aims to produce lifelong learners, confident individuals and responsible, compassionate citizens.

We believe that all children can, and will, achieve. We are unrelenting in our pursuit of excellence, both in the classroom and beyond. Our GCSE results in 2017, 2018, 2019 & 2022 place the school in the top 1% for progress and top 10% attainment of all schools nationally. Those outcomes provide compelling evidence to support our virtues-led approach to education.ctd

At the same time, we deliver both our learning and pastoral care through a language of shared virtues. We are committed to the belief that that the fostering of human virtues forms the foundation of all goodness. For our pupils, that means that our school is a safe and caring environment – one in which they can enjoy their education.

Our approach helps to provide a strong moral compass for our pupils that enables them to fully understand the choices that will face them in life and the best path for them to follow. They also become self-reflective, can build strong, meaningful relationships and more fully understand their responsibilities to the global family and all creation.

As all school leaders will tell you, a visit to the school will bring all these words to life. Our pupils are our best ambassadors and they will happily share their experiences with you. Do, please, contact the school if you would like to see our school in person.
