Please see below information from the Birmingham City Council or contact your home local authority for more information.

https://www.birmingham.gov.uk/info/20119/school_admissions/1786/apply_for_reception_class_or_primary_school/6

  • If you applied online and provided an email address, Birmingham City Council will email you on Tuesday 16th April 2024 to tell you which school your child has been offered. We cannot guarantee the exact time you will receive your email, as this will depend on your service provider. However, we expect that you will receive your offer email by 4pm on Tuesday 16th April 2024.
  • Please ensure you check your junk/spam folder for the email address you provided.
  • Birmingham City Council will also send you a formal offer letter that will be posted by 1st class post on Tuesday 16th April 2024. Please allow at least three working days for your letter to arrive.
  • The offer letter will explain how to accept or refuse the offer that has been made.
  • Please do not contact Birmingham City Council before you have received the offer of a school place. The school admissions team cannot tell you which primary school place has been offered to your child by phone or email.

You must have received your email or letter before contacting the school admissions team.

If you have not received your email or letter by Thursday 18 April 2024, you may contact school admissions.

Accept the place offered

The email and letter you receive will name the primary school your child has been offered for September 2024.

You do not need to let Birmingham City Council know if you plan to accept this offer.

If you want to refuse this offer, you must tell Birmingham City Council before Tuesday 30 April 2024.

Your offer letter will tell you how you can refuse the offer. If you do not refuse the offer, the school will update their records to show the offer has been accepted.

If your child has not been offered a place at any of the schools you applied for, this will be because the school(s) received more applications than there were places available and other children met the admission criteria more closely than your child. Details of school admission criteria are available at www.birmingham.gov.uk/schooladmissions.

You are strongly encouraged to accept the offer you have received so that your child has a guaranteed place for September 2024.

If you refuse the offer, the place may be given to a child on the waiting list for that school.

If you accept the offer, this will not affect your child’s waiting list position for any of your higher preference schools, or prevent you from appealing, or influence the outcome of any appeal you may submit.

Waiting lists

Waiting lists will be created three weeks following the offer of school places. The waiting list will move up and down as offers are accepted or declined. If your first preference was Nishkam Primary School Birmingham and you were not offered a place you will automatically be on the waiting list until the 31st December 2024. Please note we do not give out waiting list position information as it can change on a daily basis. The waiting list will be ranked only when a place becomes available using the over-subscription criteria. If you would like to join the waiting list please contact your home local authority and complete a supplementary Information (SIF) form if applying for a faith place. The waiting list is held in accordance with the admission criteria of the school, not in order of applications received. All waiting lists are cleared at the end of each academic year, and no names are carried forward into the next academic year.

Your right to appeal

If your child has not been offered a place at Nishkam Primary School Birmingham, you have the right to appeal to an independent appeal panel.

You can only lodge an appeal if you have;

  • received notification that the local authority have not been able to offer you the school of your preference
  • listed the school on your application form

Appeal forms and more information about appeals can be found of on Birmingham City Council https://www.birmingham.gov.uk/info/20119/school_admissions/1786/apply_for_reception_class_or_primary_school/9

The closing date for primary appeals is 15th May 2024.
