Great Birmingham Run 2022

On Sunday the 1st May, children of Nishkam Primary School took part in the Great Birmingham Run in support of the charity, Zero Hunger with Langar.

The course was lined with hundreds of spectators who had come to cheer the runners on; the atmosphere was electric. As the children were running, spectators could be heard encouraging them to keep going. The route started in the city centre and took the children down Moor Street and towards Digbeth (junior run) and back to the finish line on Jennens Road by Aston University.

The children showed great courage leading up to the event; determination as they ran all the way to the finish line and a real sense of achievement knowing they had completed the Great Birmingham Run, 2022.

The children who took part wore their medals to school and shared their experiences with their class mates when they returned to school.

Along with their shiny medal, a special Great Birmingham Run t-shirt’, the children were also able to practice their virtues of selflessness and compassion by supporting the charity, Zero Hunger with Langar to raise money to feed children.

Unbelievably, in Malawi, it costs as little as 15p to serve one child food for a day. £5 will buy 33 meals, and £20 will feed a child in Malawi for a whole year! As a school, we have already raised over £500 for Zero Hunger with Langar. 100% of this money will be used to fund Langar projects; we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Well done to all the runners who took part and a big thank you to all of our families and supporters for their encouragement and generous donations.

We look forward to seeing even more children taking part in the Great Birmingham Run 2023!
