Curriculum enrichment
At Nishkam School West London we provide our pupils with a wide variety of extra-curricular opportunities which will complement and enhance their learning.
Our children enjoy a range of extra–curricular and enrichment activities both during the school day and after school including:
- A variety of sports clubs including Football, Gymnastics, Netball & Tennis
- Chess club
- Academic after school clubs designed to excite and engage pupils such as Science, Coding, Creative Writing & Reading
- Cooking club
- Clubs aimed at encouraging creativity including Art, Dance & Drama
- Yoga & Meditation club
- Access to 1-1 instrumental tuition through links with the Hounslow Music Service
Within the school year pupils will also take part in regular trips linked to a variety of curriculum areas as well as visit places of worship. Some recent examples include:
- Butser Ancient Village (linked to History)
- Westminster Cathedral (linked to RE)
- London Zoo (linked to Science)
- Horniman Museum (linked to Music)
- WE Day (linked to PSHE)
- Visit to Oxford University (linked to Higher Education and raising aspirations)
Pupils will receive visits from inspirational speakers from a diverse range of backgrounds and have access to carefully planned workshops and activities such as:
- Beat Goes On: Body Percussion Workshop
- Talks from local entrepreneurs & members of the community
- Bikeability training
- Thames Explorer Trust workshop
- Sessions lead by Brentford FC
- Junior Road Watch workshop
Upper Key Stage 2 pupils also take part in a yearly residential trip designed to further enhances their independence, confidence and collaboration skills.
